Massive Rains Pound Chicago, Leaving Some 300,000 Without Power

Breaking Earth News

Chicago, IL (AHN)-Massive thunderstorms rolled into Chicago and its surrounding suburbs on Thursday evening, causing major flooding, structural damage, flight delays, and leaving some 300,000 business and residences without power.

The heavy rains pounded Chicago after days of torrential storms already left much of the northern part of Illinois and neighboring Wisconsin trying to cope with floods that left many parts of the states underwater.

The fierce rain came upon the city quickly Thursday evening, with lightening and thunder following soon thereafter, prompting tornado warnings throughout much of state. Flood warnings remain in effect for the Chicagoland area until at least Friday night.
