WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- During the past few days, the earth has moved in the Newport Estates area of Woodbridge.
A landslide started slowly and swallowed trees in its path.
Residents on Kings Mountain Road said they first felt the earth move on Friday night. Now the gap is more than a half-acre wide and 10-feet deep, and it's getting bigger.
Experts believe the recent wet weather may have saturated the ground enough to cause the collapse.
County environmentalists are assessing the situation and working on a solution.
