Firefighters in Colombia have been trying to extinguish several fires that are destroying hundreds of hectares of forest, authorities said on Monday.Hot and windy weather helped create wildfires in the savannas of central Colombia, said the environment minister Juan Lozano."The fires that couldn't be extinguished during the night are mainly in Cota and La Calera," said Lozano.More than 200 hectares (494 acres) have burned, and one fire continued to burn out of control near Cota, south of Bogota, as seen in dramatic footage shot by local broadcaster RCN.
