JAKARTA, March 4 (NNN-ANTARA) -- A wave up to three meters high hit Sunda straits off the west Lampung on Tuesday.

The waves which also hit south Banten waters were considered perilous for fishermen`s boats and barges, Meteorological and Geophysics Agency warned.

Previously, waves at the averaged hight of 2-3 meters were recorded in west Lampung off the Bengkulu coast last year (Dec 12).

Meanwhile, a tectonic earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook Sukabumi, West Java province, Tuesday at 06.34 am local time.

The quake`s epicenter was located about 79 km southwest of Sukabumi, at a depth of 30 km, the meteorological and geophysics local office reported.

On Feb 8, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake rocked water area near Sukabumi. -- NNN-ANTARA
