WASHINGTON (FinalCall.com) - Drought. Famine. Pestilence. Apocalypse. The extinction of millions of entire species; one-third of known life forms. The unthinkable: Three billion people without adequate water supplies, while melted glaciers and ice sheets will leave other major global regions ravaged by floods, violent storms and storm surges.
Not a futuristic science-fiction fantasy. Rather, it is a plague right on America’s doorstep, which the entire planet faces. Its proportions here will rival the Dust Bowl conditions which devastated this land in the 1930s.
According to a report released Apr. 6 by the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), these are just some of the effects of global climate change which cannot be stopped for decades, even if the offending rich and industrialized nations—the United States and Western Europe—made dramatic lifestyle changes immediately to reduce the greenhouse gases said to be responsible for the impending crisis.
